In deep space, there are things known and there are things unknown. In between are the doors of perception. If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite. Beneath the doors, however, are cracks. The cracks are where the light and the darkness meet, where the veils of shadows are lifted and our perception of the galaxy is anew. When doorways are opened, nightmares can become reality.

For the Federation, one door has remained shrouded in mystery, the doorway between two quadrants; the beta and delta. In 2393, a specialized task force was formed by Starfleet Command. The primary objective of this task force was clear: to open the door and explore the shadows, to seek out new life and new civilizations as part of an expedition into the vast abyss. Now, the doorway to the abyss has been opened and the abyss is beginning stare back.

Assigned to this task force is USS Camelot under the command of Captain Kristopher N. Kerouac, leading the expedition into the abyss and tasked with sealing the cracks and protecting the door. An old abandoned Romulan space station, sitting on the edge of the Beta quadrant has been seized by the task force and renamed Avalon station, serving as the task force's base of operations.

The Split World Alliance is a sisterhood of peace and friendship between role playing simulations and the writers who make these simulations possible. We are committed to maintaining a safe environment for all writers involved in all of our simulations, and that unfortunately means we must make and revise rules and policies in order to hold to our commitment.

The harassment and discrimination policy is designed as a guideline to keep all interactions civil and as loving as possible. It will be regarded as a living document, one that will adapt to our changing environment as the Alliance grows. It is by no means meant to cover every possible situation; rather, it serves as a reminder that we are all learning to love and respect one another as one does a cherished sibling.

First, I want to apologize for breaking in with some tragic news, but I felt some words would be good to be said. Beifong & Camelot like many sims in Bravo Feet and elsewhere is a global community with writers from across the globe. Some of us come from far reaching countries and even myself (though a native of the United States) am presently living in Japan. I have taken several commands over the years and can honestly say this community has been incredibly welcoming and accepting of great diversity

In the state of Florida in the United States there was a horrific event that has taken place that has taken the lives of at least fifty men and women at a Gay club in the city of Orlando. Many more were injured in this ordeal and it has sent ripples of pain throughout various communities, not just the LGBTQ community but to friends, family, and vast communities regardless of gender, sex, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.

Today and for some time to come, I will be mourning for the loss of so many lives and the hundreds of lives effected by this atrocity. I am sure that I speak for many when I say our hearts go out to these families and to the greater communities coping with the aftermath. I wanted to personally say thank you to everyone here and on several sims because you have been welcoming to lGBTQ writers and characters, providing a safe space for the creative expression of myself and others. Thank you truly for being a part of this wonderful sim and accepting me and others for the individuals and humans that we are.

Respectfully,
R. James Dale (Lt. Commander Landon T. Milo) (Captain Kristopher N. Kerouac)
Commanding Officer - USS Beifong / Commanding Officer - USS Camelot

Though I love awards and medals, I think they lose value or merit when over used and given out like candy on Halloween night on sims. So, I do not anticipate spamming the site with award announcements. However, I am a very strong believe in recognizing the drive and dedication of people and the abilities of writers. Because of this, I would like to announce the following:

Kim Finney & Ezra Helmer,
though I have worked with the two of you prior to your joining the USS Camelot, you both were still newbies to the Camelot not too long ago. I definitely do not feel like you are newbies to this crew anymore. You two have written extraordinarily and brought us the characters of Attom (Kim), Dr. Nichols & Dr. Scott Fisher (Ezra).

When it comes to Attom and Fisher, they are very young officers, new to Starfleet. This is no easy task for anyone to write. You two, however, have written your character exceptionally and took no time in diving right in by joining away teams and putting your characters in situations outside of their comfort zones. You two are already knocking away with posts and replying to tags with solid writing. A job VERY WELL DONE! I am awarding the of you our "Starman Bolt" which is an award for new crew who go above and beyond, jumping right into things and writing exceptionally well like true artists and performers. The award is in honor of the late David Bowie, and bears the iconic lightning bolt of his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust.

Ezra Helmer,
You in particular with the character of Scott Fisher have brought something fresh, new, and unique to the cast/crew chemistry. Our beloved "Fish Stick" as we have so affectionately nicknamed him has been with us for a short time, but has already brought something to our writing table. Humor. You have successfully written your character with a wittiness, charm, and joyful sense of humor.

As a writer with Fisher in particular, you have shown your ability to act quickly and improvise. Combining this ability with the character's funny bone, you have proven yourself to be an excellent writer of improve comedy and as such have been awarded the Comedia dell'arte badge which has the symbolic mask of a Comedia dell'arte performer.

Congratulations to you both. Thank you for being a part of the USS Camelot.

As of yesterday evening, I received a job offer from a company in Japan that oversees a few dozen schools and learning centers here in Japan. I have officially accepted the job offer. However, this does mean doing two weeks of training in Tokyo starting very soon! My training starts on the 8th of this month (in a few days).

I will be bringing my pocket wifi and laptop with me. This means, I should be able to keep up on things and write when I have the opportunity to do so. I am not sure how long training days will be nor how often I'll be around, but I do not expect to slow anyone or anything down on Camelot or my other command, the Beifong.

The job will start later this month and I will of course be working more. Probably the usual 8-9 hour work days, 5 days a week. Fortunately, I am in Japan and most of you are in the United States. So, while I am working, you should be sleeping (unless you are Monoui or Az). I know my activity will be moderately affected, but I still believe I can keep my writing active enough to successfully run Camelot and Beifong.

There are some changes in the works for Camelot and Beifong as I continue discussing and negotiating with various people. There may be some cosmetic changes in the future to the site, and in due time, we will hopefully have more stability as far as hosting.

In 1966, the great bird of science fiction flew. Star Trek aired on television. Now, 2016, we still love our Star Trek through its many television shows, movies, reboots, literature, and even fan productions. What especially holds us together is our shared love for Star Trek and our passion for writing. Put these two crazy elements together, and something like this is born...a wonderful team of writers with fascinating characters telling the exciting and extraordinary tales of a new ship and new crew.

As I mentioned before, Task Force 38 has restructured herself and instead of being part of the Alternate Universe division, we are an affiliate of 38 just as we are a proud affiliate and member of Split-World Alliance. What does it mean for us? It means that we have a long and thrilling road ahead of us, with many tales to tell. We all know the saying by heart: “...To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before...” and that is exactly what we will be doing.

Four quadrants have been represented on Star Trek television shows and films, but the galaxy is still full of mysteries, dangers, and delights beyond our wildest dreams. My plan is to move forward as we had intended. We will soon be making a return to the depths of the Beta Quadrant, plotting a course that will take us through uncharted space, rarely seen planets and systems, and into the unknown where we will seek out new life and new civilizations. The Beta Quadrant will be our back yard, and it extends for a very long way, butting up with the Delta Quadrant. You know many of our common neighbors like the Romulans, the Klingons, and the Nausicaans, but allow me to show you some of the minor returning faces and new faces to look forward to:

Yridians – A warp capable species from the Beta Quadrant planet of Yridia. They have creased skin, a stooped posture, and somewhat claw-like hands. Though not outwardly aggressive or militant, they can be rather territorial, hostile, and have been known to have involvement in black market weapons trading as well as open trade relations with the Ferengi Alliance, Cardassian Unyion, Orion Syndicate, and the Romulan Star Empire. They are also experts in engineering explosive and espionage devices. Though most are everyday albeit sleazy traders and black market dealers, some have been known to be hired as smugglers, assassins, or bounty hunters.

Faantine – The Faantine are a peculiar looking somewhat humanoid looking species that lack any indication of having jaws. They have two distinct orifices, one located at their 'head' and another on their lower abdominal region. Federation scientist know very little about their anatomical and biological systems and functioning at this time. The species were once conquered by the Klingon Empire and parts of the planet were at times under Orion control, but they have since gained independence due to their valued assistance to the Empire during the Klingon-Federation War and the Dominion War of the 2370s. They tower over most humans, standing a proud 7 feet on average. There are no distinct sexes or genders in their society as all individuals possess both internal and external sexual reproductive organs. They are a warp capable species that tend to use old Klingon vessels or Klingon inspired designed vessels. Their home world is called Faant and their native language is Faanti, but they speak Klingon and several Orion dialects proficiently. The majority of their people are scientist and engineers, but a small yet significant portion work in agriculture. The Faantine have been known to experiment on living subjects and have an interest in eugenics. Mental abilities such as Telekinesis and Telepathy have been documented in their society, these individuals are often highly praised.

Iotians – A strange and misguided humanoid species who externally appear to be fully human, but there are several internal differences. They are a highly intelligent and adaptable species who have been known to pick up new languages quite easily. They have a bit of a pack mentality and their society is very capitalistic. They were once a very isolated people who had first contact with Earth humans via the 22nd Century starship Horizon which unintentionally lead to anthropological disaster, perverting the Iotians society when a young crewmen with questionable taste in literature left behind a book, Chicago Mobs of the Twenties which lead to the Iotians creating a society around 1920s Chicago. The USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T. Kirk once encountered the Iotians, and though the Iotians are now more aware of life from other planets, their society has only slowly grown and has been tainted due to interactions with the Ferengi Allaince who have set up business establishments and banks on the planet, accepting Iotia into the Ferengi Alliance. The Iotians themselves are pre-warp, but some have gone off world thanks to the Ferengi. Technologically, they are still roughly around Earth's 1920s-1930s, but with the introduction of Ferengi technology, it is difficult to place them accurately. It was once a Federation protected world and later a member of the United Federation of Planets circa 2366, but the Iotians' membership in the Federation was quickly 'bought out' by the Ferengi.

Rianconi – A a delicate humanoid people without a homeworld after theirs was destroyed. They are now scattered about the Beta Quadrant. They are herbivores and pacifist by teaching, and were once members of the Pa'haquel Alliance. However, after encountering the USS Titan in 2380, the Rianconi as a people have come together, leaving the alliance behind and colonizing an M-class world of New Riaus. The Rianconi are warp capable, but limit their space travel due to their limited resources. They are humanoid and appear to be human with the exception of their lavender and deep violet colored hair. Some men and a few women will grow out their purple fuzzy body hair, but this is no longer the cultural norm. They are peaceful and benign, and welcome off worlders to visit their planet in order to trade goods and services. Some have said that in a few years, New Riaus may be the next Risa.

Xarantine – A species that little is known of and are seldom seen. They were encountered by humans via Earth Starfleet prior to the formation of the United Federation of planets by the NX-Enterprise crew. The Xarantine are a humanoid species with yellow skin and dark brown to black spots scattered about their bodies. They typically wear hooded cloaks, and do not have much interaction with anyone. Most of their encounters have been with the Klingon Empire whom they have had dozens of skirmishes with over the many years, the Klingons having tried countless times to conquer them, but despite the Xarantine species being 'no match' for the Klingons, they have yet to fall subject to the Klingon Empire. They have known to get creative in dealing with their Klingon problem by poisoning Klingon Generals and Council Members, seemingly able to go undetected about Klingon worlds. The Klingon Empire suspects the Xarantine have or once had close relations with the Romulan Star Empire, and possibly possess cloaking technology.

Lumbaun – Small red skinned humanoid creatures that come from a pre-warp society. They are smaller than the average human, often averaging around four to five feet in height. They are a species that devotes their time to philosophy and debates, which often is their means to end conflict rather than armed warfare. Their planet was thought to be insignificant, but recent studies suggest the world to be plentiful in dilithium which may make it a sought out planet by those who wish to exploit their resources.

Kyraw/Kroian – Large and thin bipedal avianoid species with great wing spans, beaks and talons ranging from yellow-orange to purple-black in color. Their bodies are quite bony and covered in fur and feathers that are dark and iridescent, almost a blue-black in color. The true name of their species cannot be pronounced by most species, and after contact with humans who described them as 'crow' like and their languages sounding very 'caw,' the species adopted the name Kyraw and Kroian, though The Kyraw is their more commonly used name. The majority of their territory is in the Beta Quadrant, but they have traveled as far to establish the planet Kro in the Alpha Quadrant near Tzkenthi and Talaraian space, around the Breen Confederacy in a region that had once belonged to the Cardassian Union.

The crew of the NX-Enterprise once encountered a small colony of this species, falsely assuming it was their home world and the extent of their population. Based on what they saw of the Kyraw, they suspected the species would not last another century. A grave mistake. Though it took then over century to finally become a more organized and united force in the galaxy, the Kyraw have been picking the bones of both the Klingon and Romulan empires. They are a militant and yet scavenger species that smell death and destruction, and pick apart the decaying sections of collapsing empires. They rarely rely on their own technology, rather seizing the technology of other species and reverse engineering. They have been known to make use of smaller Romulan vessels such as Raptor-class vessels, modifying ship's systems and giving the ships a 'cosmetic makeover' changing their Romulan green paint scheme to a more menacing black, dark blue, or deep purple coloration.

Krenim – The founding members of the Krenim Imperium which has be spread across many sectors of the Delta Quadrant, and have found their way across the galaxy by seizing planets near the Delta-Beta quadrant border. They are and extremely hostile humanoid species. They use chroniton based weapons.
